this saturday is a epic craft show at the raddest surf shop around Island Water Sports- Indie Craft Swell. This place was my second home for years i miss the days of hanging out after days of surfing and playing in the beach sand at deerfield beach. The shop is filled of friendly faces and always is a cozy place to shop and hang after days in the sunshine. You can find many things there from surfing to skating to clothes to shoes to swimsuits and accessories. And this saturday they are turning there area in front of the shop into a indie craft wonderland. You will find all sorts of unique local artists, handmade, vintage treasures. There will also be a Tom's paint your sole tent where you can purchase a pair of plain Tom's shoes and create your own masterpiece on them or take them to an artist around and have them paint your shoes. Also Michaels Craft store will have a tent with supplies for little ones to get crafty. Local food will be for sale by Barrucada, they will have yummy tacos & sandwiches plus vegetarian options too. A portion of the proceeds from the Indie Swell Craft Show will go to Calvary Chapel Human Trafficking Ministry. So come out Saturday and enjoy a day in the sunshine and shop local & handmade. There will be over 30 vendors under tents for you to check out and find some treasures. I will be there with my Peace Owl Forest.

hey there new year, 2012. you came quickly and away we go. 2011 had some fun adventures with the Peace Owls. I was involved in many fun events at my second home The Bubble IWAN Gallery, my favorite was Sean Murdocks Summer of Love Festival. Plus craft shows/ festivals around south florida- Aura Music & Art Festival, Stitch Rock, Grenolds Park Love In Festival, Odd Duck, Indie Craft Bazaar, Wynwood Markt, Angaelica at Art Basel. It was also an amazing year with adventures with buddys, sisters, bike rides, beach days, sunshine, happy dogs, ocean swims, some surfing days, a happy new home with a awesome roommate and buddy, a backyard with a tree, and a tree swing, longboarding, longboard buddys, sunshine, dancing, lots of forts, including a really big one at The Bubble, painting, gardening, a new herb garden, flowers, and tomatoes. lots of good things packed into 2011, makes the little things, the confusing days, the sad days, the lonely ones just disappear. there's alot of magic out there just can't lose sight of it. i'm happy for the days behind and for whats ahead. do good and good will follow.

here are my resolutions for 2012

*so for the new year i decided to be content, i just want a puppy.

*travel more, discover new places, go to new york, california, costa rica, everywhere or anywhere.

*do more art, don't let my paint wait for me so long, find a new place for pottery w kiln, make shirts, keep my etsy shop happy and filled, take more photos.

*lots more adventures. if one comes up, go. don't hold back.

*don't hold onto those who are not around.

travulous and friends spread cosmic cheer, holiday market & intergalactic musical # 2

flash back - saturday december 17th was the 2nd annual travulous and friends spread cosmic cheer, holiday market & intergalactic musical at iwan the bubble, fort lauderdale. it was a fun event filled with cheer, lights, vendors, travulous play, and bands. i decorated for the show and turned the bubble into a winter wonderland with some snowflakes from scrap magazines, paintings on cardboard, glitter, garlands, lights, etc. i made a painted a fireplace on some scrap wood and turned the back area into a mock living room cozy with differnt wall artists on display. outside we had a teepee turned TreePee with some green garlands and lights. bands played on the stage outside and shined a little extra with some holiday lights above. we had vendors inside the gallery and outside selling handmade/ vintage items and a coffee shop vendor and 2 yummy cupcake vendors. inside was also a Cheer Tunnel which was sure to brighten anyones spirits who entered. neary by was a funbooth photobooth area by penelope lane photography. all the vendors, bands and more are listed on the flyer that was posted before this. they all added a special cheer & awesomeness to the event. holiday cheer is my favorite. i hope the spirit never leaves. i am glad we had good weather and good smile-y buddys at this event. can't wait for the next one. more cheer!

last friday was a special day at The Bubble it was the day we celebrated oneness, togetherness, the moment, nowness and connected with all that was around in that space. it was put together by two magical friends Travis and Olga. I have known both of them for a good amount of time and they are sure to inspire you and brighten a room they step into. They have a great energy and it shined especially with this show. Travis is a talented musician (Trav) and Olga is a visual and graphic designer(Lollipop Graphics). They got together a wonderful group of visual artists, live music with a mix of local musicians all jamming together, dancers, 5 minute masterpiece station, film, meditation, smiles, balloons, tambourine shaking, people dancing around, inspiring creativity and brought people together. the event was called Oneness and i think it was there on that day 11/11/11. i am happy for the people i have met through The Bubble and am happy for the moments to come inside that space. the art i created for this show was Shine the symbol of the togetherness of the Sun and the Sea and how together they shine for us. Flourish which was inspired by the style of a mandala using nature to flourish from the center. in a circle in a field all things grow feathers float free. those were both painted on wood and the third one i did was on cardboard with a quote that inspires me by Henry David Thoreau "You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land, there is no other life but this.” I should have prints available of these paintings soon. a few more pictures of the event here and on the bubbles page.

today is a special day today we celebrate one's togetherness and the moment. in fort lauderdale there is a special celebration by two magical friends Olga and Travis at my favorite warehouse turned art gallery The Bubble. This is a sneak peak at some of the paintings i created for the Oneness show. Stitch Rock Indie Craft Show & 5th Bday Party

this past saturday was a crafty show & celebration of Stitch Rock Indie Craft Shows 5th birthday. Stitch Rock is the biggest craft show in South Florida and this is its 5th year it has grown allot through the years and gives the handmade, vintage, diy a wonderful place to vend and tons of unique crafts and goods for shoppers to treasure. this was my third year vending and i wanted to make sure i had new peace owl goodies at my booth. back in 09 this was the first big craft show i ever did, just to get accepted to vend is exciting. it is held in a vintage gymnasium in downtown delray beach, the past two shows have had even more crafty vendors (over 80) so it has an outside tent as well. i vended upstairs on the balcony of the gymnasium. i crafted some new things like some little peace owl adventure pillows: a vw bus peace owl mobile, teepee's, and retro peace owl camper. I also made some tote bags, buttons, new paintings, prints, and lil mushroom holders. my twin sis jess was my helper in the morning and my little sis and mom came later. they make me smile. it was a great crafty show/ celebration. So many inspiring and creative vendors, great supporters, friends, community, cupcakes and fun. a big thanks to Amanda Linton for keeping this show going and growing through out these years. happy birthday stitch rock!

Itty-bitty blazar cosmic fashion show, art & music

flash back to july 22nd was an intergalactic fun time at IWAN The Bubble, hosting a fashion show with Betsey Johnson and other local indiependant designers. all who came got the chance to get a glamformation including glitter and big hair. a special host Travulous (a bowie like cosmic rock star) kept people entertained and closed the show with a great preformance to get people moving and shaking. this all happened after an out door runway show that included Total Recall Vintage, Fox House, Katty Munoz, Maria Veronica Rivas, Sean Murdock and Betsey Johnson Aventura showing her fall line. i got to walk the runway like a bird in a fun Betsey Johnson dress with flowy flowery sleeves that reminded me of wings. Lots of art sparkled on the walls and bands played outside. it was a great place to be in the cosmos. i painted a cosmic david bowie special for the occasion.

Indie Craft Bazaar's Bohemian Craftsody was a summer lovin' indie craft fair on July 23, 11. It was a perfect sunshiney summertime show with crafty friends vending under a big white tent, with some friendly fans. i shared a table with my twin sis jessica who does Chloe The Hot Dog & Friends art and paintings. It is always fun having her by my side. I lucked out in that sisterly friend department. this show was exciting because i designed the flyer art for the event, a retro flower camper with peace owl along for the ride. i always enjoy creating flyer art for events like this. you can see more photos from the show on my facebook art page here.

friday june 10th all over the world people celebrated Etsy Craft Day (sorry if you did not get the memo). this year i held a little one at The Bubble Fort Lauderdale and we had a fun crafty time. we had a tie dye station and other crafty things for people to create. it was a fun group of happy faces including my little sister karina. shes 7 now and super cute and talented in all sorts of ways. she was my helper for the show and was a great one. i made a big batch of fresh squeezed lemonade and we had sheets spread out on the lawn for a nice outdoor summer time crafty time. a few talented musical friends played music: Brady Newbill, Trav, and Ryan Alexander. it was a fun little celebration of Etsy and a nice little crafty gathering i hope you got to enjoy one in your hometown and if not make one happen in your hometown next year.

It was a day filled of sunshine, a little warm on the pavement but filled with good company.

flash back: so i have been a little slow to blog land, here are some photos from Greynolds Park Love In Festival (may 15, 2011). how could i miss a post on my favorite peace love-in smilen good times festival? well here it is, it was a lovely day, started with some rain sprinkles and cleared up to a sunshine filled clear sky day perfect for frolicking and dancing around greynolds park to the 60s tunes brought back by different musicians and jefferson starship closed the show with a nice groovy set. i had the peace owls there and shared an art tent with 2 friends, Diana of Feathers Divine (feather earings and hair extensions and more) and Olga of Lollipop Graphics (Digital Art, Posters, headbands and more). It was a fun show and great time with these crafty friends. Cant wait for next years Love-In Fest.

this saturday was such a fun celebration of IWAN The Bubbles 's Happy 2 year Anniversary. i captured some of the fun for the first part of the event and got some of the wall art and bands, but more fun was to be had and the camera didnt stay attached. thanks to everyone who was apart of the magic. We lucked out with clear skys for a beautiful night. The event was filled with music (8 bands/ dj), art from exhibiting wall art to crafty vendors (Funk You , Edau, Lollipop Graphics , The Hemp Butterfly, Just V , Its Me Designs , Allison Kapner Originals , Holly Hobbys, Melodic Muses, Heartbeatz Accesories, One Odd Gentleman, Victor Velasco), photography installations by Sean Murdock, Valyn Calhoun and Parallax Squared, a photo FunBooth by Penelope Lane, food, drinks, dancing, cake, balloons, smiley faces, and lots of love. It was a great turn out for a wonderful place in Fort Lauderdale. I hope it continues to grow and grow. Everyone needs there own Bubble. last saturday was Odd Duck Handmade Bazaar & Indie Craft Fair. This was the second annual show and it was held at Old Davie Schoolhouse. It is put on by the Hollywood Craft Mafia a group of 4 crafty inspiring girls. They put on this large Odd Duck Handmade Bazaar annually and do other crafty diy events and mini Odd Ducks throughout the year. They really put on a great show, this one had about 80 crafty vendors in 3 different areas at this Old historic schoolhouse. I was in the downstairs auditorium there was also an upstairs area and a tent outside, plus a tiki food hut area and a grassy area were some bands played. It was a great day event and there was lots of happy shoppers, of all ages. I shared my spot with my feather friend Diana of Feather's Divine. I love the feather earings and feather hair extensions she does and so do the Peace Owls so we have joined forces for a few shows. This day we went from this show 11-6pm to another show Wynwood Market (Miami) and set up there till 10:30pm it was a long crafty fun day, even with some dancing after. I really enjoy doing events with my feather friend, gives us both time to fly around and vend at the same time. Also at Odd Duck my twin sister Jess was there with Chloe the Hot Dog & Friends. I love when we do shows together. She is only doing a few now because she is going back to school. Good sissy. this saturday was an event 'for the little ones' a benefit for Jack & Jill Children's Center at IWAN The Bubble. Jack & Jill Children's Center is in Broward County Florida and it is a non-profit organization that provides family oriented early childhood education and support to strengthen working families. They serve children ages infant to 5 years old, year round from 7:15am - 5:45pm to serve the needs of working parents. I went with some others from IWAN The Bubble and visited the Jack & Jill Children's Center and the lil ones there gave me big smiles, some hugs and a flower. Each class room, activity room, kitchen, play ground was filled with light, smiles, singing, playing, ballet, learning and creative crafts. I fell in love with the Center and can't wait to visit again. This event for the little ones was filled with love, music, art, craft vendors, yummy food, and drinks. I created a giant crafty fort for little ones, and little big kids like myself, it was the 'peace owl craft world of recycled imagination'. it was lots of fun making this giant fort with all my vintage flower sheets, garlands, feathers, bells, strings and coloring pages. my little sis karina (she is now 7) was my lil peace owl helper and it was fun having her there for this magical lil event. she is super creative and an amazing lil artist. i always tell her stay little, dont get bigger, but i know as she does she will continue to fly her wings into the butterfly she is. saturday was Sean Murdock's Summer of Love Festival at The Bubble (IWAN) Fort Lauderdale. It was a magical event with inspiration from Woodstock and the 60s and Peace and Love and Music. Love was all around, happy faces, twirlling, hoola hooping, admiring, and inspiring. It was a beautiful event. The show was put on by Sean Murdock who is a talented photographer, he creates amazing images on large pieces of wood using an alternative printing techinique. He then paints them in vibrint colors. Some pop even more with 3-d glasses and look really sweet in the groovy black light room they set up during the show. The event had a few other artists and vendors outside. I had fun making my Peace Owl fort area with some help from my twin sis with Chloe the Hot Dog & Friends. I hung some of my floral sheets from the roof for a nice gypsy fort and filled the tables with some crafty treasures. I also had fun making a TeePee!!! at this show. With the help of Sean we managed to make a big teepee and i painted it during the show. It was really fun and now it now is camped out at The Bubble for awhile. I plan on a sleep over soon. We made it nice and cozy with a blanket and pillow inside. Some of the other vendors/ artists at the show were HoopRage, Undergrounds Coffeehaus, Rosa Mia Hernandez, Just Because by Lee Lee, The Hemp Butterfly, Holly Wilson, Time-Peace, Gopi Bliss, Just V, It's Me Designs, Funk Yard Thrift (and more!). This show was really fun and also had great 60s vibe'd music. During one song my friend Evan had me come up and sing Give Peace a Chance with him. It was really fun dancing around and singing that song (one of my favs). Not that I have a good singing voice but in the moment it was magical. Much love goes to The Bubble family. They continue to bring magic to the art and music scene in Fort Lauderdale. I am very happy to have The Bubble in my home town and for the love that continues to grow from inside that warehouse turned art/ music bubble. Aura Music & Art Festival was January 14 - 17 and it was a much needed adventure. The festival is 3 nights of camping, music and art at a lovely eco-ranch at Forever Florida, Saint Cloud. The Peace Owls and I joined my friend Diana with Feathers Divine and had a fun feather forest tent. Diana is a lovely spirit and makes amazing feather earings and hair assessories. I love them all. The peace owls and her feather goodies love hanging together and we hope to do more festivals together soon. A few other inspiring crafty friends from South Florida were also at the festival like Gopi Bliss, Time Peace, MarkPaperScissor, Bean Spence (north fl). I had a lovely adventure time at the fest, filled of music, art, good vibes, dancing, hoola hooping, camping, yoga, frolicking, bubbles, friendly faces, yummy food vendors, and amazing crafty vendors. Glad to have spent those days surrounded by the lovely nature and good people. ♥

hello 2011! it's about time i welcomed you here. it been a busy 2010 of peace owl fun and i am excited for more adventures ahead in 2011. This past year I am thankful for the adventures I had with the Peace Owls. I still have to pinch myself to believe I was in the Spring Issue of Boho Mag. And all the fun events I was in at my second home The Bubble IWAN Gallery. Plus craft shows/ festivals around south florida- Stitch Rock, Grenolds Park Love In Festival, Lake Worth It Fest, Odd Duck, Palm Beach Music & Art Fest, Retro & Geek Odd Duck, Indie Craft Bazaar. It was also an amazing year of buddies and mini adventures, music, beach, bike rides, dancing, smiles and sunshine. Even with the cloudy days, the not so great times they all work together with the good and the bad and keep us looking forward to whats ahead. So welcome 2011!

happy 2011 here are my resolutions:

*go on more adventures! go more places see more beauty, see more nature, more smiles, meet new faces, explore old places, I want to be free to travel, freedom is within I just want find it, and explore.

*find a home and be content. have a crafty space. outdoors would be nice.

*find a good balance of work, crafty times, adventues, buddies, family. make a good a mix of the things i love and must love to get by.

*be healthier. ride my bike more, live somewhere where i can compute better with my bicycle friend. also hope to have a green market near by to load up my bike basket. make jucies and smoothies, and healthy yummy sandwiches with avacado and tomatoes. also eat more blueberries. i love blueberries a whole lot.

*spead peace, love & smiles (always)

i did do some of my 2010 resolutions but havent completly tackled the list. so i will work on those more this year too. basically i still hope to get my etsy home for the peace owls more together. add more art, paintings, ceramics. and to get organized with my crafty things. but that will come with time. :)

Travulous and Friends Spread Cosmic Cheer, Holiday Market and Intergalactic Musical

Saturday December 18th was Travulous. I helped put together a special show at The Bubble filled with cosmic holiday cheer. The Bubble has become my second home, the people there are like my family. They are great spirited and always are supporting the art/ music community. They bring so much to the South Florida area. The events there are usually Art/ Music events. You will always go away with a smile. For this show I decided to round up some local crafty friends and add a Holiday Market. It was perfect having the crafty friends along with a play put together by the visionary Travis called Travulous and Friends Spread Cosmic Cheer and music from bands plus a dj. The play has characters like Travulous, Elfvis, Travaltron, Lollipop Girl, Cheerless Witch, Reindeer Girl (me) and an Intergalactic Band that really got you smiling and moving. The songs really were amazing like Cheer is in The Hips, and Cheer Up Cheerless Witch. They got everyone shaking their hips and twirling around. Some of my illustrations were used in videos (by VJ Dark Intersections) during the play it was really neat having them so big up there. The Peace Owl brought back the cheer at the end of the play bringing back cheer to the cheerless witch. It was very Magical. Also before and after the play we had some great bands play like Green Mantles, Retrocities, Radar, and Chris Horgan. The crafty friends (such as Chloe the Hot Dog & Friends, Humility Now, Feathers Divine, Time Peace, SMLL SPRK, Coma Girl, Recycle My Bag by Migdalia, DarwinAndTheDodo, The Hemp Butterfly, Stitch of Whimsy) were all around inside and outside, I wanted to make sure they were able to enjoy the event (the music, the play etc) and have a good time vending there goods at the same time. The very yummy Undergrounds Coffeehaus set up inside and had yummy coffee and treats. I didn’t set up a spot for the peace owls because I was busy being a reindeer and making sure cheer was all around. It was really lovely having crafty friends join the music and art at The Bubble. Cosmic cheer was all around. The music, the play, the crafty vendors, and the crowd all sparkled. It was a great night and we were blessed with wonderful weather after a rainy morning. art basel is magical

from december 1 to december 5th i entered a magical place called Art Basel. it is a huge art event that spreads to a few parts of Miami. There is the main Art Basel event which is huge and held inside a convention center down there, and then there tons of other events all over the area. Events spread from Wynwood area, to the Design District, to Miami Beach, inside gallerys, inside warehouse, inside lofts, on streets, sidewalks, alleyways, everywhere you turn is something to marvel at. My favorites of the days were the Peter Tunney Experiment and Rainbow City by Friends with You. Both were magical in there own ways, Peter Tunney's art gives off powerful and possitive messages and has a beautiful style. Very eye catching and inspiring. I wanted to live in his exhibit, it had a great 60s feel to it, not that i've been there but i can imagine. Another land I wanted to live in was Rainbow City by Friends with you. It was very magical. They filled a grassy field with large air filled friendly creatures and mushrooms. They were meant to inspire interaction, ritual and play. I think they were a huge success. I wish they would always be around for an adventure and a smile.

this saturday was a very magical Crafty Picnic at a lovely park in West Palm called Phipps Park. It had some beautiful trees, perfect for a nice shady place to craft under, also perfect trees to climb. I wish these trees were closer to my home. Or even if I could just have a tree house in one of the trees, that would be wonderful. This Crafty Picnic was put on by my crafty friend Hollie of Blueberryshoes Art and Vintage. She is very amazing and always puts together such cute crafty meetups. She also created an amazing Etsy Group called the Indie Free Spirits. Plus has a very magical Etsy shop of fairy tale art & fashion. She created the pine goddess crown i am wearing in a few of the photos. These photos were taken by Hollie and also Amy of Peace, Love & Cupcakes (another amazing crafty friend/ artist). It is so nice to be surrounded by crafty folks and events like this are really special. If you dont have one sprouting near you, start one up and spread the crafty love. I am very thankful to have these crafty friends in my community.

mini odd duck RETRO & Geek show

this saturday was the mini odd duck RETRO & Geek show. it was put on the amazing hollywood craft mafia and took place at Jezebels Vintage (Retro vendors) and Radioactive Records (Geek vendors). This show was 'mini' so the vendors had a 3 foot space to fill with goodies inside these 2 awesome places. Me and my twin sis (chloe the hot dog and friends) shared a spot. she had her retro flower doxie paintings and other doxie paintings, and some adorable florida oranges (ceramic & paintings). i had my peace owl 5 x 7 framed paintings, trunk of prints, ceramic mini mushrooms and mushroom flower vases/ peace owl bells.It was fun creating a cozy little display. my other neighbor at the show was hollie of blueberryshoes. i adore her and her craftyness. i am wearing her pine goddess crown in the bottom photo. she makes adorable bows, necklaces, paintings and more. everything has a special magic to it. also in the section i was in was Lorna Ruth (sweet alternative photography prints, buttons & jewelry) and Tortuga Tile Works. Here are a few photos from a show I did this weekend, The Palm Beach Art & Music Festival. It was the first annual and it was at Meyer Ampitheater in West Palm Beach, FL. It was a chilly (about 60 degrees, thats coldd for south florida) but FUN time. Held on a nice grassy field with a nice band shell all the vendors flowed around the field all surrounding the band shell. I shared a tent with my friends Liza of Gopi Bliss and Rose of Rose's Whimsical Garden. We had a great time at the show. I brought a few of the hoola hoops i made and spent alot of the time hoola hooping and keeping warm. A few more photos I took at the show are here. Next weekend will be the Mini Odd Duck RETRO & GEEK Show. Can't wait.

for halloween i was a wild thing, a mixture of max from where the wild things are, a fox, and inspiration from my kitty cat dandelion who is a true wild thing.

i made a few ghost friends to hang out at the bubble. i saw a tutorial on merry may handmade.

and i made some paper mache pumpkin friends.

Now I am getting ready for Palm Beach Art & Music Festival (this Saturday Nov. 6th) and Mini Odd Duck RETRO & GEEK Show (Nov. 13th). Plus getting excited for the holiday cheer around the corner. Weeee.

Art with a heart, Art with a mission ♥ Here are some paintings i did for a lovely event called Art Heart. It was held at Stage 84 in Davie FL. The event had live music and art with procedes going to His House Childrens Home, an orphanage in Miami. To find out more about this event watch the video below. It is beautiful. I was happy to be apart of this amazing group of artists for a wonderful cause. This is the first of many Art Heart events. They are put together by Katya Neptune and Alexis Colbert, two amazing artists/ friends of mine. :)

Dialect at Brew's Urban Cafe Fort Lauderdale

This weekend was Stitch Rock (south floridas largest indie craft fair & bazaar). It was saturday October 2nd at Old School Square in Delray FL. It is the bestest craft show. Packed with many unique crafty/ vintage vendors. This year was the biggest yet, with vendors both in the gymnasium and under a large tent outside. I was upstairs on the balcony this year along with some other crafty friends. One that i am especially excited to be booth neighbors to is my twin sister jessica. She is back with her Chloe the Hot Dog & Friends art, she even made cute lil florida oranges. Yay! I missed her by my side. She got married to Eric earlier this year and has been busy with new things like a golden retriever puppy (who is now chloe the hot dogs best friend) and gardening and traveling to the keys with her husband. But she is back painting some again and will be at more shows with me soon. At my booth there was my paintings done on cardboard and framed, I had both 8 1/2 x 11 and 5x7 paintings and also prints done on recycled hardstock. I also made ceramic mushroom flower vases and some tiny mushroom friends and peace owl bells. You can see more photos from the show on my facebook art page. My little sister Karina (who is an amazing artist already) was my booth helper. She helped hand out some peace owl masks and helped with the money box. She is the cutest little peace owl. :) Can't wait for the next Stitch Rock. Thanks to Amanda for putting on a great show. She is amazzing. <3

Another event last week was at a local coffee shop called BREW Urban Cafe. They do monthly art shows where the artwork hangs in there yummy coffee shop and they have an opening night with music and art called Dialect. My peace owls will be hanging there for a month. They will be flying high after all that coffee. Also if someone wants to take them home, they can buy them with there coffee. It is a really fun and chill event. The place has seating indoors and outside and they have many yummy coffees, teas, and other brews. Even some pastries. Nice local stuff. Yum.

A Crafty Potluck Party

this weekend my friend Hollie of Blueberryshoes Art & Vintage threw a Crafty Potluck Party. It was great fun getting crafty with crafty friends, playing and enjoying yummy foods. the party was held at Amy's house (which is filled of cuteness everywhere you look). this is going to be a new monthly meet up and i am so excited for it. It was great fun getting together with the local crafty buddies in the area and crafting together. Each girl is so inspiring to me in there own ways. The group included Hollie of Blueberryshoes Art & Vintage, Amy of Peace, Love and Cupcakes, Sherry of Annies Cupboards, Amanda of Indie Craft Bazaar, Sam (who is just an all around awesome friend, she made the yummiest vegan cupcakes), and Stephanie of Polly Peachums. this saturday august 7th was the Lake Worth It Music & Art Festival at Bryant Park Lake Worth. It was a full day of crafty friends, music and fun. For this festival my forest/ fort tent had some rad company of 3 friends. Liza with Gopi Bliss Apparel, Rose with Rose's Whimsical Garden and Angela who makes cute whale pillows (shops coming soon). We had fun taking bubble breaks, hoola hooping, and dancing. Rose packed the ultimate picnic. I snapped pictures of many of the crafty venfors and some of the bands that played at the festival you can see all of these on my facebook art page. It was the first annual festival and it is off to a great start. :)

july 23 was Thee itty bitty Blazer Gala -part II Travulous a fashion review – musical experience held at The Bubble IWAN gallery in Fort Lauderdale, FL. It was a really fun fashion/ music/ art event. Travulous was the fabulous host of the evening with a David Bowie like style. Travulous had some original songs for the event that were magical. For the fashion show the walks went to David Bowie songs, it was really fun. I have never done something like this but this was such a fun event i just had to do it. I was a little nervous to walk down a runway but the bubble is like my second home so that made it easier plus we had fun props like bubble guns, hoola hoops and masks. I am really glad i did it and i didn't trip. The models got awesome funky hair styles by Destiny Squillante and makeup/ body art by Keegan Hitchock. The designers for the clothes were Katty Muñoz, Verónica Ramírez and Maria Rivas. They are very talented young designers. I love the clothes they create and i am excited for more collections/ fashion shows from them in the future. The walls of The Bubble were also decorated with art from IWAN feature artists. next saturday August 7th i will be at Lake Worth It Music & Art Festival. come by if you are in this area! it will be a fun festival with great music and fun in downtown lake worth, florida. i will have a booth with my friend Rose (who does feather headbands and more) and the peace owl gang in a forest/ fort style booth. we will have face paint, bubbles, hoola hoops and more. come play. :)

this sunday july 18th was the indie craft bazaar - peace, love & craftyness. it was a fun craft show held outside under a large tent at the cinema paradiso in fort lauderdale fl. it was a fun summertime craft/ vintage show with about 60 crafty folks selling handmade/ vintage and recycled goodies. It even had a tie die station. i designed the flyer and it was so fun meeting lots of new and old crafty pals. the day was filled with happy customers and smiles. it is so fun being surrounded by crafty folks all wanting to make local shoppers happy with the things they create. i have more photos on my facebook page including some of my crafty friends at there booths, including links to there etsy shops. check them out! i will be updating my etsy shop soon. i have a HUGE event at The Bubble this Friday Thee itty bitty Blazer Gala -part II it is a big art/ fashion/ music event. Recycle Kitty for South Florida Swap-O-Rama

I drew this recycling kitty cat for the South Florida Swap-O-Rama that was at Trash to Treasure Creative Re-Use Center. It was put on by The Dirty Peaches Clothing Co who make clothing from 100% recycled, rescued, post-consumer or vintage materials. It was a super fun event where you bring in a bag of unwanted clothes and swap it for clothes you pick out at the swap. Then you got to go to one of the sewer/ designers and have your picks created into whatever you dreamed of. I had a flowery shoulder bag made from pajama pants and a scrap floral fabric and a tank top made with more of the floral scrap and string. Also you could have one of 3 winning designs screen printed on your items using the Yudu screenprinting machine. My recycling kitty was one of those designs and it was so cute and exciting to have the kitty on different crafted items. This was a two day event and at the end was a fashion show to show off the creations. Can't wait for more events from these crafty ladies. Now i am dreaming of having a sewing machine..

Etsy Crafty Party

These are some photos snapped at the Etsy Crafty Party that was held by my hometown. It was put on by the Hollywood Craft Mafia and it was at my favorite craft store Pearls. When I was little my mom would take us there and it always felt like Disney world. It is a huge craft store filled of treasures. This event was on June 18th (Etsy's birthday) and was meant to get crafty folks together to celebrate and be crafty together with those in your town and around the world. It was a great idea that was promoted on Etsy's storque and using Meetup.com to track the different meetups around the world. The top 50 received a goodie box from Etsy/ Readymade/ and Meetup, and we made the top 50! Woot, that was exciting. We had tons of fun at this party, the craft projects were create your own stamp, or sew a wristlet purse. The crafting supplies were picked up at a neat place here called Trash to Treasure a creative re-use center. I made the party hats and my friend Hollie of Blueberryshoes Art & Vintage made the fun photobooth w banners and fun props like scissors and a hot glue gun. Etsy sent the cute birdy- stay handmade backdrop. It was a great party and i hope many more pop up. Yay for crafty friends and Etsy! By the way, Happy Birthday Etsy! I love you.

Greynolds Park Love-In Festival

this sunday i had my peace owl art at a super groovy festival called love-in festival at greynolds park in north miami beach. it is a peace loving 60s festival at a park that was once the hang out for the flower child in the 1960s for jam sessions, poetry readings and peace demonstrations. this was the 7th annual love-in festival and it was a fun filled day of peace, love, 60s music, art, vintage goods, hoola hooping, picnicing, flowers, sunshine, vw's and smiles. i wish every day could have that vibe. but i was glad to be apart of this one. you can see more photos on my facebook fan page. on may 1st the bubble (IWAN gallery) had a birthday party celebrating there 1st birthday. it turned one year old. it was a grand celebration with yummy treats, cupcakes, candy, music, art, and lots of fun. i made the birthday hats and decorated them w glitter. it was a fun time with a great group of people. i look forward to many more events and bubble birthdays.

in month of april wedding bells rang for my twin sister jessica

sorry i have been missing in blog form, my twin sister got married last month and i was a busy maid of honor. i planned a surprise bridal shower for jess and had it at her new home so it was tricky. i had to be sneaky but i was able to pull off the surprise. yay! it was a 'tacky flamingo lawn party' bridal shower. it was picnic style in the backyard with friends and family who all helped with keeping the surprise and bringing yummy dishes and smiles. her wedding was the weekend after the bridal shower and it was on a perfect blue sky sunshiney day. she married eric carter a church by the beach and had a reception at the beach. it was a lovely wedding, every bit of it.

Odd Duck Handmade Bazaar

here is a peak at my booth during Odd Duck Handmade Bazaar. This craft show was a real success greatly due to the Hollywood Craft Mafia who put on this lovely craft show. They did a great job promoting this show and put a lot of heart and craftiness into the whole show. It was an eye opener for alot of us of how special this handmade movement is and how special we are to have so many unique crafty lady and gents to create such a variety of things to make our lives and homes happy places. I wish I had a camera to snap photos of some of the crafty friends and neighbors that were at this show but you can see some on the Hollywood Craft Mafias facebook fan page. Here is one of my favorite crafty ladies Hollie's(Blueberryshoes Art & Vintage) booth. It is full of treasures. She started the Etsy team I am in the Indie Free Spirits. I am so happy to know this lady she is full of sunshine and is a great friend and crafty lady. Her sister helped her out at this show and the two of them are super awesome. Also while I am mentioning sisters my sister was awesome too and she came to help me set up and enjoy some of the show. She didnt vend this show with her Chloe the Hot Dog and Friends art because she is busy with wedding prep, she is getting married next month! Woo. I do miss her doxie art being by my side but she will be back at it soon. :)

i have loved this poem for a very long time. i always dream of living in a tree house and that poem always makes me smile. i painted this painting on scrap wood and it is now at The Bubble in Fort Lauderdale, FL. My peace owl section has turned into a feathery peace owl kingdom. I had fun hanging feathers from the ceiling and on the walls with a friendly staple gun.

Right now I am busy getting ready for a craft show coming up next weekend called Odd Duck Handmade Bazaar. It will be in Davie, FL at the historic davie school house. It will be a fun place filled with crafty treasures. Odd Duck is Saturday March 27th from 12-6pm. This craft show will even have face painting and a DIY craft table where you can make a terranium, yay. :)

out to sea: a group art show at howleys

I am excited to be apart of a group art show put on by Amanda with Stitch Rock. She puts on monthly art shows called 'a side of art' at Howley's Restaraunt in West Palm Beach. It really is the yummiest place ever. It is a diner from the 50's that still has that awesome 50's/ 60's retro feel. This ones theme is 'Out to Sea' and it will be from February 23 - March 23rd. If you are in the area stop in and enjoy some food and art. I love their sweet potatoe fries with some honey. mmm. They also have tater tots. yum. And fresh lemonade. I wish it was closer. :)

on valentines day i turned 25. so did my twin sister. we went and spent the day at the miami metro zoo. we even got to bring the little sis who is now 6. she is the cutest and funnest little bird ever. hope everyone had a lovely valentines day with the loves they love.

Saturday me and my twin sis did a art show: Dania Beach Folk Art & Antique show at Grace Cafe & Gallery. We signed up for this one last minute and split a table. It was a fun little show the turnout was small but I still had a great time being there. My friend Hollie of Hollie May Art & Fashion was also at the show and we got to be booth neighbors, yippee. She does really amazing illustrations and makes super cute bows and has an awesome vintage shop. She also just started an Etsy team 'Indie Free Spirits' that I am in. She is an all around amazing crafty friend. So glad to meet her. Inside the gallery of this show was a really inpresive Charlie Harper collection. I am amazed at all the work he did and the life he and his wife who was also talented artist had. He did really amazing nature/ wildlife art.

la photocabine is fun.
it has been unually cold in south florida lately. a week long cold front. highs near 30/40 degrees. that is crazy talk for here. i don't have enough warm clothes for this so i am craving spring and summer time. but playing in this 'snow' was super fun. ok its not really snow but it stayed frozen since its so cold out. it was gathered from an ice skating rink and brought to a backyard for some fun sledding, and snow ball fights. it actually did snow in some parts of north florida. crazy weather. hope your keeping warm and having fun! peace & love.

new years resolution: be less of a mess

we'll its here even though i'm not ready for it.. it's 2010! i hope you all had a lovely holiday season and new year. mine flew by! i just moved into a home! it's technically my twin sister and her husband to be's home. big news: the are getting married in april! and i will be the maid of honor. wahoo. so he will move in once they are married and for now it's me and my sis. it's a cute home with an awesome backyard. we built a fort the first weekend and had fun rolling around in the grass with chloe. i painted my room a color called feather gold it makes me happy.

happy 2010 here are my resolutions:

*keep up with my etsy shop, take better photos, put more in it.
*make more crafty friends, and have crafty partys.
*be more organized with all my crafty things.
*be happy with all that is around me, don't overwelm myself.
*if possible, get out of having an office job.
*paint more, and play more. have more time to do both.
*travel, i need more roadtrips they make me happiest.
*now that i have a backyard, i need a garden with veggies and flowers. plus a clothes line and a compost. remember to be green.
*ride my bicycle more and make sure my sister comes too.
*be less of a mess. i've felt pretty messy lately. i don't want to feel down i want to take life and make the best of it.
*spread peace, love and smiles.

p.s. i checked my 2009 resolutions and i did accomplish most of my goals for that year hopefully i stay on the right track for 2010. :)

sugar house holiday bazaar

saturday was the Sugar House Holiday Bazaar at the House of Vintage in delray beach, florida. it was a fun event filled with holiday cheer, hot cocoa, sprinkle cookies, handmade goodies, vintage goodies, and lots of wonderful crafty people. i had a really great time and enjoyed some great company at the show. not just my twin sister who has retro wonderful doxie art but some other amazing crafty ladies (on etsy) like ragamufyn, bean blossom, and stitch of whimsy. i still am new to doing these craft shows this year and people like them are really inspiring to me. giving handmade gifts is the best. some of the items that were set free from my table are ceramic peace owl ornaments, peace sign bowls, peace owl prints, and peace owl painting. i am sure they will be very happy with there new homes. :)

winter wonderland

on the inside of the bubble was lovely snowflakes falling. outside was lots of rain. too bad rain doesnt turn to snow in south florida. we can pretend though. the winter openning was fun. me and my friend linda made sugar cookies with powdered sugar on top to look like snowballs. i also enjoyed many candycanes. i couldnt stay long at the bubble because my friends bands the notary and retrocities were playing at respects. It was a toys for tots event and it was a really great show and dance party. sunday was filled of blue skies and sunshine. now it is seriously time to get ready for the holiday bazaar next weekend and gift making for my family/ friends. i need more time, please. :)

tis the season to be crafty

Saturday was Green Saturday a small local craft show. It was my first of two shows I signed up for. It had a small turn out but still was fun. I have been making some peace owl ornaments for the holidays. Its been a busy start to December and I have been trying to scare away a cold. It's almost gone. This Saturday will be The Winter Opening at The Bubble. I had fun making this flyer.
Next up will be my next local show (and last one for this season) the Holiday Bazaar at The House of Vintage in Delray, FL. Can't wait for this one. :) YAY FOR CHRISTMAS CHEEEER. :)

A few of my Peace Owl paintings have packed up and moved to a new home at The Bubble (IWAN Gallery) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They will be happy to hang on the walls of The Bubble from November 28- March. Lots of fun events happen at The Bubble so they will never be lonely. It is a fun warehouse turned into art gallery. They have amazing talent on the walls and amazing bands play great tunes on stages out side and sometimes inside. You will be hearing/ seeing more events from this magical place soon.

today my little sister turned 6. i keep telling her never grow up. but she is very excited to be older. wish we could trade places sometimes. when we (me and my twin sis) asked what she wanted for her bday she said a peace owl and doxie painting. so me and jessica collaborated on this one. :) i also drew her a peace owl bday card. she loves the peace owl and has gotten very good at drawing her own peace owl. she is very talented. have a lovely day!

hope you all had a fun halloween! for this halloween i made myself a bird. i got the leotard and a old sheet at the thirft store. I transformed the sheet to be my wings and drew feathers all over one side. I made a feather mask with a beak covered in feathers. I also stuck feathers in my hair braid and made a feather necklace. it was fun being a free bird. for halloween i started the night at my little sisters house and did some trick or treating with her- she was a zebra. i shut my finger in the car door (that's the cause of the funny face of disapointment above). it was ok just needed a bandage or two. later i went out to moonfest on clematis street and did some flying around on the dance floor.
p.s. sorry for the lack of posts. my computer is getting slower and slower. i will fix it soon. xo

lately all i have been doing is lots of daydreaming. i'd love to be on an adventure of some sort. Wish this waterfall was in my back yard or a bike ride distance away.. Any nature would be nice but it all seems too far away sometimes. I'd really love to go frolick and explore a forest. Anyone with a forest near by really should consider themselves very lucky and enjoy it. This polaroid was taken when I was in Costa Rica this summer. Can't believe summers over but can't wait for the things to come.

Stitch Rock Indie Craft Fair & Bazaar

Saturday October 3rd I was apart of Stitch Rock Indie Craft Fair & Bazaar and it was awesome! It was my first big craft show. Stitch Rock had 50 amazing craft/ vintage vendors. It was awesome to be one of them plus my twin sister was also one with her doxie art- chloe the hot dog and friends! It was awesome because are booths were right across from each other. The show was very busy with a line out the door most of the day. I met some great people and made some fun sales and got lots of smiles from visitors to my booth. Smiles are the best reward to something you create. If you happen to come to my blog and you were one of my customers please say hello, it was a busy show but I'd love to give an extra thank you. I heard of a few more upcoming local shows and hope to get in one for December. For now I have some updating to do for my Etsy shop. :)

i am getting ready for Stitch Rock: Indie Craft Show & Bazaar. It is this Saturday October 3rd from 12pm- 6pm in Downtown Delray Beach Florida. this will be my first big craft show and i am so excited/ nervous. these pics are a few of my newest crafts, all going with my peace forest theme. the song stuck in my head is the fleet foxes- ragged wood. i cant wait for a nice adventure after this show. my poor bicycle misses me.

Its time to celebrate! Today is a special day. In celebration of International Day of Peace and this being my 100th post I want to show you some inspiration to me and have a special giveaway for you.
Since today is International Day of Peace I want to let you know why I love Peace. In the photo above I have some things that inspire peace to me. Things I treasure like the Peter Max Peace poster. In 2006 I got to meet Peter Max and he signed it for me. It was the best. He is an amazing artist and a huge inspiration to me. A photo of my family in 1985- my dad, mom, me and my twin sister in bonnets. I love how young and happy my parents look and how tiny we are. Some books that inspire me- The Book of Peace, The Giving Tree, and Peace- the Biography of the Symbol. They are all filled of lovely images and beautiful stories. Other things that makes Peace special to me are: the 60s/ 70s era, artists/ inspirational people like John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, Gandhi, and so many others. Here are some inspirational peace quotes. Through Etsy I met this inspiring peace artist- Just Give Me Peace. Her art is very inspiring and filled with lovely messages of peace. On Flickr you can find this amazing group One Million Peace Signs who have been gathering many inspiring images of peace. You can add yours or get inspired by all the Peace images. I think more than anything what Peace means to me is just that feeling it creates. Peace is a movement and something I strive for. I see more and more people after it and it gives me hope for a better world. People joining together for the GOOD in this world. We live in a beautiful place full of lovely inspiring places and people.

here is my favorite dish to make

Chilled Avocado Salad
Ingredients:
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tbsp. rice wine vinegar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. oregano
1 avocado, peeled, pitted and cut in bite size pieces
1 cup cooked brown rice
1/2 cup canned black beans, rinsed and drained
1 large Roma tomato, seeded and diced
1 green onion sliced

steps to create this yummy dish:

1. whisk oil, vinegar, salt, and oregano in large bowl. Add avocado; toss gently to coat.
2. Add rice, black beans, tomato and green onion; toss gently to mix. Cover and refridgerate for one hour. *warning- this one hour will seem like forever after making this dish and wanting to eat it right away... but this is worth the wait because it tastes best chilled. You can serve this with some tortilla chips and a eating utensil. Yum.
(I am sharing this recipe with my dear blog friend Dee from Our Little Love Nest and I figured others may want to try it too. So here you go. Hope you enjoy this dish! I found the recipe card at Walmart. I found that cute vintage owl tray at the trift store the other day. It was a match made in heaven. I love it.)

p.s. i was hoping to have an update for you on the Eco Tee Design contest. They have narrowed the designs from 50 to 5 since yesterday and next week the winner will be selected. Acouple weeks ago I was stumbling around the internet curious to find a eco friendly tee shirt printer and i found a fun contest instead. Raindance Music & Art Festival #2

Well the second Raindance has come and gone just like that. This was a fun little 2 day hippie festival in Tampa Florida. The weather was full of sunshine with just a sprinkle of rain each day. The days were full of good music, good vibes, smiles, dancing, jam bands, sunshine, bubbles, art, floating in the pool, foam parties, peace and love. I wish I could do more festivals they make me happy. Making people smile from something you create is just the best feeling. I hope you enjoy these photos. Raindance Music & Art Festival Bound

I'm free and off to Tampa Florida for an awesome 2 day hippie music & art festival- Raindance. I am packing up the Peace Owls and Peace Forest art i have been working on and then I am on the road. here is a peak at some of the new things i have been crafting. my head has been spinning with ideas getting ready for Raindance Music & Art Festival (which is next weekend!! Tampa Florida) and Stitch Rock Indie Craft Show (October 3rd Delray Beach Florida). I made some feather mobiles, mini canvas polaroid paintings and daisy headband this weekend.
